Program Updates for the 2025 Application Cycle

By: PhRMA Foundation team March 26, 2024

For the 2025 awards cycle, the PhRMA Foundation is introducing a new award and application timeline in the Translational Medicine Program and implementing key changes to postdoctoral and faculty eligibility.

The PhRMA Foundation is currently accepting letters of intent (LOIs) for our 2025 grants and fellowships in our Drug Discovery, Drug Delivery, and Translational Medicine programs. Starting this cycle, the Foundation is introducing a new award and application timeline in the Translational Medicine Program and implementing key changes to postdoctoral and faculty eligibility.

New Award

The PhRMA Foundation is expanding our Translational Medicine Program to offer predoctoral fellowships alongside our postdoctoral fellowships and faculty starter grants.

With this change, the program is also adding an LOI stage to the application process and adjusting the application timeline to align with our Drug Discovery and Drug Delivery programs. The application portal is open now and LOIs are due by 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET on May 1, 2024.

Since 2013, the Translational Medicine Program has funded research that bridges the gap between the lab and the clinic to address unmet needs in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Given the growth of this important field, these changes aim to build on this program’s success in helping early-career researchers develop new diagnostic, experimental, and computational approaches to improve patient care.

Eligibility Changes

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PhRMA Foundation previously changed the eligibility requirements for postdocs and new faculty to allow applicants within the first five years of their role, instead of the first two years. This provided needed flexibility given the impact of the pandemic on research.

For the 2025 cycle, the Foundation is readjusting the eligibility requirements to again focus on those in the earliest stages of their postdocs and independent faculty positions.

Make sure to review all program goals and eligibility requirements before applying.

Apply Now
